Joe Polach
As a retired Marine Corps officer, I moved to St. Louis Park with my lovely spouse, Jan. Together we raised two beautiful adult children, Benjamin and Alexandra.
My yoga tale is that of the classic, oft-repeated story of a husband begrudgingly dragged to a yoga class by his spouse, only to eventually be transformed. Yoga provided another avenue for spiritual growth that began as a young Catholic boy. My interest lies in the traditional, eastern philosophy of yoga. This is not to eschew western practice, but to work within it because of its prevalence in the US; it can be used as a means to an end. I am
particularly interested in expanding the presence and participation of men, believing this will bring balance to a predominant masculine or yang energy. The best thing one can do is to work towards harmony in the world.
I honor those who have taught and inspired me: Ben Vincent, Rebecca Sheldon, Kevin Kortan, Jim Bennitt, William Prottengeier, Rod Stryker, Gajendra Patel, B.K.S. Iyengar, and Paramahansa Yogananda.
