"Health is wealth. Peace of mind is happiness. Yoga shows the way." - Swami Vishnu Devananda

My interest in yoga surfaced late in life, at age 40, when I off-handedly enrolled in a
yoga class at the YMCA in Washington, D.C. My teacher, a former Swami with the
Sivananda organization, literally turned my world upside down with the sun salutations,
the breath work and the inversions. I was hooked and have been on the yoga path
since that first class, 25 years ago.

After my initial certification in Sivananda Yoga I continued to study with Dharma Mittra
and Erich Schiffmann, and Bikram. In 1998 I adopted Ashtanga yoga as my personal
practice, which led to my studies with Richard Freeman, Lino Miele, Dena Kingsberg
and John Scott. I also attend workshops in New York City with the Pattabhi Jois family
and attend several workshops every year, most notably with the Jivamutki Studio, Baron
Baptiste and Matthew Sweeney. I am an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher, 700
hours, with Yoga Alliance (E-RYT 700).

A self-proclaimed “yoga mutt,” I draw from a variety of yoga traditions, blending
Ashtanga, Jivamukti, Sivananda and Vinyasa to create my own signature teaching
style. I teach all aspects of Yoga, asana, pranayama, relaxation and meditation and
encourage all of my students to do something good for themselves everyday—Do Yoga!
My classes are invigorating and challenging. They are never too serious, and always
support individual differences.

Time alone on the mat is my best teacher!

Favorite pose:
Savasana... as defined by B.K.S. Iyengar in Light on Yoga
"....By remaining motionless for some time and keeping the mind still while fully conscious, you learn to relax. This conscious relaxation invigorates and refreshes both body and mind. But it is much harder to keep the mind than the body still. Therefore, this apparently easy posture is one of the most difficult to master."
