Acupuncture can help to:
In addition to the local effects described above, the acupuncture needling of certain points on the body stimulates the nervous system to release chemicals in the brain and the spinal cord. These chemicals help to alter your experience of pain. These chemicals can also can trigger the release of other chemicals/hormones which enhance the body's own internal regulating system. This improved biochemical balance supports the body's natural healing abilities and one’s overall physical and emotional well-being.
Acupuncture can be effective as the only treatment or as a compliment to other therapeutic interventions. If you are currently seeing another health care provider (e.g. physical therapist or chiropractor) for a joint/muscle condition, acupuncture can help enhance and speed your recovery. The World Health Organization recognizes the use of acupuncture in the treatment of:
Lisa Nelson MA, L.Ac., CIMT
Lisa is a licensed acupuncturist in Minnesota and a National Board Certified Diplomate in Acupuncture (NCCAOM). She brings nearly 10 years of experience in rehabilitation
health care to her acupuncture practice. She has specialized in treating patients
who are recovering from a sport or musculoskeletal injury and/or a persistent pain
condition. Lisa integrates “hands-on” techniques (soft tissue work including releases
to the fascia and involved muscles) and acupuncture to encourage changes in your
body that initiate the healing process, decrease your experience of pain, and restore
function.
Lisa received her Masters of Acupuncture degree from Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, Minnesota. She also completed a 300-hour acupuncture course series offered through McMaster’s University, Ontario, Canada. This training focused on various acupuncture techniques (including trigger/motor point needling and electro-stimulation) to improve performance and reduce pain related to musculoskeletal disorders of the neck, back, and extremities. She is also a certified integrated manual therapist (CIMT) through Great Lakes Seminars.
Lisa treats pain conditions of neck, low back, sacroiliac (SI) joint, upper extremity (shoulder, elbow, wrist), and lower extremity (hip, knee, ankle, foot).
