| Chelsea Diamond Chelsea comes to yoga with a passion for movement. With 15 years of experience in classical ballet and 5+ years in modern/contemporary dance, her transition into yoga was natural given her already accomplished keen sense of body awareness. Chelsea received her Ashtanga Yoga teacher certification at "It's Yoga" in San Francisco, studying with Larry Schultz. She also completed training in the Rocket vinyasa sequencing concentrating on the 2nd and 3rd series of the Ashtanga Yoga system. In addition, she participated in an intensive workshop with Manju Jois. She studied ballet with the Minnesota Dance Theatre/Ballet Arts MN and trained in professional programs with such companies as San Francisco Ballet and the Joffrey Ballet in New York City. She performed and choreographed modern dance pieces with the Macalester College Dance Ensemble and studied at the Laban Centre for Movement in London focusing on Martha Graham technique. She was also accepted into the highly competitive NYU/Tisch Center for the Arts Masters in Dance program. Chelsea is grateful she found yoga as it aided in healing ballet injuries, while calming her mind and nourishing her spirit. An intuitive progression from dance to yoga, she acknowledges precise body placement and has appreciation for all practitioners. By encompassing the function of the bandhas and breath in Ashtanga, she guides others to experience the benefits of the mind/body connection through moving meditation. Chelsea's free-spirited personality finds a match in yoga, to be present and fully embrace life. Her practice and teachings come from a place of truth, being open and honest with her internal self. She has a passion for travel and has explored such places as Russia, China, Thailand, Africa, Iceland, etc., and has scuba dived in many of the Caribbean islands. She also has enjoyed other forms of movement such as pilates, competitive gymnastics, and tai chi. Chelsea sees her open-minded approach to Yoga as a journey into her own soul as well as a connection to others. For her, it is a lifestyle in which to view an ever-changing world.
