Sara Pearce

Sara Pearce RN MSN CNM is a registered nurse and certified nurse-midwife who has cared for thousands of mothers in pregnancy, labor, and birth before finding her passion as a birth and family educator. She held both clinical and adjunct faculty positions at hospitals in North Carolina and Minneapolis. Her work has also included postpartum nursing, childbirth education curriculum development, and high-risk obstetric nursing. In 2007 Sara founded Amma Maternity, which provides new and expecting families with support and education.

She believes that women today are more well-read and educated than ever, and childbirth education should reflect its audience. Her classes are smart, comprehensive, and entertaining. She thinks parents have intuitive knowledge that should be honored and developed. Her classes are based on current medical practice and her own experiences as a midwife and mom, with a large dose of humor thrown in.

Sara is a graduate of Wellesley College and has a masters degrees in nursing from Yale University. She lives in the Minneapolis area with her husband and their three children.
