Testamonials: Yoga Bonding® Postnatal Yoga Classes
Some of our most precious yoga moments happen before we're ever born... in the mother's belly! This page is dedicated to the practice of yoga - meaning "union" - of the mother and child both before and after birth.

From Megan Klein
My daughter and I started taking the yoga class when she was six weeks old. I loved taking this class for several reasons. First, it was one of the only ways I could work out without needing to get a babysitter (since my daughter was taking the class with me). The teacher demonstrated many of the same sequences each week so that I was able to memorize them and duplicate them at home. At the same time, she taught us something new in each class to keep things interesting. Although I had no previous yoga experience, I was able to keep up without any problems.

Second, the class provided me with lots of great ideas for ways to interact with my baby during those early days when many parents are frustrated by their child's inability to "do anything" yet. Lisa provided wonderful guidance on ways to incorporate Eastern philosophies into parenting. I learned new ways to massage my daughter and move with her that furthered our parent-child bond. And my daughter seemed to love the class, too. It was amazing to see her blossom into a little "yoga baby" with each class we attended. By the end, she was a little pro!

Third, the class was a terrific venue for interacting with other new moms, sharing problems and solutions, and hearing from Lisa about her experiences with the hundreds of babies she has taught over the years.

I would recommend this class to any new mom.

Take care,
Megan Klein

From Amy Kane
Not only is doing the Yoga Bonding something I do for myself to get back into shape after having a child but it is something I do espescially with my baby. I look forward to doing yoga with my son because this is "our" bonding time and this is something that I do only with him. I really enjoy the time I spend with him doing yoga and look forward to doing the one on one interaction that benefits both of us.

P.S. I come away feeling relaxed and he comes away with a big nap.

Thanks again,
Amy Kane

From Sue Sullivan
Yoga bonding classes have been a huge benefit to me and my son. We started practicing when he was three months and have been hooked ever since (5 months later). What a great way to get in shape after pregnancy and bond with my baby at the same time. He enjoys it and I can truly say that by practicing Yoga Bonding twice a week I am in better shape than I was before I got pregnant!

From Paula Spahr
Miles and I started doing Yoga Bonding with Lisa when he was just 5 weeks old.  Having practiced yoga during my pregnancy I was excited to share the benefits of yoga with my baby while strengthening my body and soul after a difficult delivery.  The techniques used in Yoga Bonding really helped me, a first time mom, to feel confident in my interaction with Miles.  We were able to use the techniques Lisa  taught us to curb colic and digestive issues young babies go trough.   Miles is 8 months now and we both still love doing Yoga Bonding.  Thanks to Yoga Bonding Miles is growing into a strong, confident toddler who especially enjoys baby inversions, giggling at mommy's inversions, and foot massages.  Yoga Bonding has helped me strengthen and lengthen essential mommy muscles.  Plus it gives Miles and I an opportunity to take time to slow down and do something that just feels good.

From Betsy Elworthy
Yoga Bonding class was an opportunity midweek to regroup and quiet my first time mom mind. All the racing thoughts about parenting could rest while a clear intention of baby and mom interaction was set by our teacher. The fleeting moments of a growing baby slowed as we moved through the yoga sequence. The infant massage and partnered movement encouraged the powerful connection between mother and child to become conscious; my heart would just swell with love, pride and adoration for this little person now in my life. As it does now just thinking of her.

Thanks, Lisa, for providing this experience for us.

-Betsy

From Kara Miller
Dear Lisa,

When my son was eight weeks old we came to our first Yoga Bonding class. I was looking for a fun activity he and I could do together, and a chance for me to get back into yoga after being pregnant. We had a fantastic time, and I really enjoyed the yoga. But the most unexpected result came after class when we got home. After eight weeks of daily (often several times a day) failed attempts at breast feeding, I successfully nursed him! It was as if our bodies finally fell into unison, and we found a new physical connection. I'm now able to nurse him almost exclusively, and I love it.

During those frustrating eight weeks I met with several lactation consultants, sought help from my ob/gyn and our pediatrician, took herbal supplements, saw a chiropractor, and each day spent several hours pumping and filling bottles. Nothing worked and it was generally a very stressful time for me. I wish I had started Yoga Bonding classes much earlier.

Many, many thanks,
Kara Miller and baby Hank
