Yoga for Back Strength Basics

If you are new to yoga and have back issues, this 2-hour intensive will teach you the basics you need to know before you get started. We will do some gentle practice, please wear comfortable clothing. You will learn about:
• The general principles of alignment
• Body awareness, knowing your boundaries, and self-care
• Modifications for a range of body types
• Some tools for dealing with back pain
• Back bending, forward folding, hip and shoulder openers
This class will prepare you to move into Yoga for Back Strength classes. Register

Sacral Chakra - The Pleasure Center

This is the second of seven monthly workshops on the Chakras. The Sacral Chakra is the center for emotion, sexuality, and desire, as well as the reproductive system, kidneys and gonads, and the water element. It's known as the "pleasure center" and is the source of establishing healthy boundaries with your relationships with others, food, recreation, sex, etc. Learn yoga asana, pranayama, meditation, mudra, kriya and more to help get your energy centers balanced and feeling great. Pigeon is an amazing pose, not only does it open the hips, it also opens the
chest and the shoulders. Pigeon helps us energize the mind and reduce stress.
In this workshop we will explore the many variations of Pigeon pose. We will
begin slowly stretching and warming up the body to prepare us to safely go

Family Yoga Workshop

Yoga for kids is a time of building strength, imagination and concentration. For children of all stages of life, teaching them to calm and connect to their centers enhances contentment, emotional balance and love. From silly, wild dances, deep breathing, drumming, crafting, and singing at the top of their lungs, to quiet time and storytelling, this class offers children and families a life-long practice and discipline. Nourish: A Restorative Workshop

Set an intention to nourish your body, mind and spirit with this 2-hour yoga, meditation, and pranayama experience. Restorative yoga encourages your body and mind to slow down and replenish so you can manifest more clarity, connection, and insight about your True self. Spring is the time to plant the seeds of change in your life and be open to new possibilities. A massage therapist will be doing mini-sessions while you are in reclining poses (if you like). Bring a journal or notebook for a short writing exercise.

Zen Mama for Birthing
Using JAI Prenatal and Amma Birthing Techniques

Couples will learn a variety of coping techniques for labor and get a chance to practice what they learn under the guiding hands of a yogi and a midwife. Breath work from JAI Prenatal Yoga is taught, along with labor massage, movement, relaxation, and visualization. Special attention is given to the birth partner, who will be mentored in labor support. Great for women who have goals of unmedicated birth, as well as those who are open to pain medication.

During this workshop you will learn the inside-outs of how to use a variety of breathing techniques while practicing asana to increase overall benefits and support the healing of any dis-ease. • Be introduced to your inner body anatomy: cells, organs, circulatory and lymphatic systems
• Enjoy an intensive hatha-style yoga practice

Understanding Birth

Even if hospital childbirth classes don't appeal to you, there's only so much you can learn from a book. We'll reveal how to increase your odds of a faster, safer, easier birth, regardless of your use of pain medication. You'll learn about the mind-body connection, how to cope with pain and fear, and how to write an effective birth plan. This second trimester workshop sets the stage for the Zen Mama for Birth workshop taken in the third trimester.

NEW! Forearm Balance Workshop

Pincha Mayurasana, or Forearm Balance, is a pose of freedom, strength and beauty that opens the heart and helps students literally see the world from a new perspective. It is also said to calm the brain and help relieve stress and mild depression. We'll warm up first with a bunch of shoulder openers, core strengtheners, and balances. Also learn about the prana vayus (vital airs) as a way to understand the physics behind Pincha Mayurasana as well as other inversions. Then work in stages to build a strong, steady Forearm Balance. We'll also employ partner work and props to help aid your posture and/or your transition from the wall to the center of the room. Join us as we improve our sense of balance both on and off the mat!
