Understanding Birth

Even if hospital childbirth classes don't appeal to you, there's only so much you can learn from a book. We'll reveal how to increase your odds of a faster, safer, easier birth, regardless of your use of pain medication. You'll learn about the mind-body connection, how to cope with pain and fear, and how to write an effective birth plan. This second trimester workshop sets the stage for the Zen Mama for Birth workshop taken in the third trimester. Register

Learn to take flight in Crow pose. The Crow is a symbol of renewal, transformation, magic and abundance. We will explore many ways to approach crow and it's fun variations. This is a great workshop for those working up to crow as well as those ready to move beyond the traditional version. Prepare by strengthening the abs and opening the shoulders and back. We will work with the fear which can often accompany this pose and learn to tap into the grace and beauty of this arm balance. Register

Yoga for Cardiac/Cancer Wellness

Pranayama and Meditation

This workshop will explore the wide range of pranayama and meditation exercises from the Yoga and Tantra traditions. Pranayama is a tool used to control (yama) our vital life force (prana). Meditation helps unite our minds with stillness and clarity. We'll go over different sequences for: 1) calming the mind and decreasing anxiety, 2) increasing energy and mental sharpness, and 3) cultivating a stronger connection with our intuition. Please bring a journal and pen, and wear something comfortable.

Yin Restorative Workshop

Cool down with this Yin Restorative workshop. Restorative yoga encourages your body and mind to slow down and replenish so you can manifest more clarity, connection, and insight about your True self. We will begin with a meditation and the rest of the practice will be a combination of yin poses (deep stretches focused on releasing the connective tissue and joints), restorative poses supported with props, and pranayama (breath exercise). We will do a short writing exercise so please bring a journal or notebook. All levels of experience are welcome. Register

Zen Mama for Birthing
Using JAI Prenatal and Amma Birthing Techniques

Couples will learn a variety of coping techniques for labor and get a chance to practice what they learn under the guiding hands of a yogi and a midwife. Breath work from JAI Prenatal Yoga is taught, along with labor massage, movement, relaxation, and visualization. Special attention is given to the birth partner, who will be mentored in labor support. Great for women who have goals of unmedicated birth, as well as those who are open to pain medication. Respiratory & Diaphram Release
