Warm up your weekend in this fun and energizing workshop by learning to practice yoga with someone special. Postures are done together working with balance, support, trust, alignment, strength, and flexibility. Couples are welcome or bring a friend, child, or yoga buddy. Poses are taught for a variety of levels for all to enjoy. Plus learn new partner poses and stress relieving techniques from Thai Yoga Bodywork. All levels welcome. No experience necessary. Register

Yoga for Cardiac/Cancer Wellness

This class is for those living with heart disease, cancer and other life threatening diseases, as well as those at risk for these conditions, those surviving them, and their loved ones. Led by certified Cardiac and Cancer yoga instructor, Tara Cindy Sherman. What you will learn:

• Special breathing techniques to lower heart rate and boost immune function
• Research findings on yoga's effect on heart disease and cancer

Scorpion Workshop

For those of you who love and/or challenged by Forearm Balance, this workshop will take you to the next level in your inversions by incorporating backbending while upside-down. Vrschikasana, or Scorpion Pose, is a pose of energy, vitality, confidence and creativity that opens the solar plexus and helps students literally see the world from a new perspective. It also strengthens the shoulders, abdominals and back, and improves balance. We'll warm up first with a bunch of shoulder openers, core strengtheners, backbends and balances. Then work in stages to build a strong, steady Forearm Balance. We'll also employ partner work and props to help aid your posture and/or your transition from the wall to the center of the room. Join us as we improve our sense of balance both on and off the mat! Intermediate levels.

Quieting the Monkey Mind

Dancing through the Chakras

Chakra means "wheel" in Sanskrit and refers to the spinning vortices that vibrate in our energy body. These centers symbolize our connection between the spiritual and physical. In this workshop we will journey through these energy centers to bring harmony through movement, rhythm, sound, tone, vibration, & more. Bring a pair of indoor shoes or clean sneakers.
Danskinetics was developed at Kripalus' Center for Yoga and Health in Stockbridge, MA. It is based in part on Body Mind Centering techniques and moving the body in different ways to bring optimal health ito the various systems. Another key element in DK is experiencing freedom and joy through movement. When we com together to move, dance, laugh, and work up a sweat, we discover a powerful antidote to modern day stress. Shakti Flow is Tara's own creation which combines drumming, chanting, and devotional yoga warmups with the dancing to enhance the transformational experience. Register

In India all the many gods and goddesses are representations of the ONE, the one becoming the many. They reflect the creating, preserving, and transforming energies in both ourselves and our world. Learning about these deities is like holding a mirror up to ourselves to see the divinity within reflected back.
Once a month, we'll explore a different goddess to better understand and access the nature of her archetype. We'll use ritual such as mantra and yantra yoga, movement, drumming, and sacred ceremony to involve the shakti, the creative feminine energy of our chosen deity. Through this process we tap in to our innate potential and step more fully in to our power and birthright as co-creators of our lives. Register

Laughter Yoga

Laughter Yoga is non-bendy, laughter and breath-based exercises. We laugh and breathe to bring oxygen and joy into our bodies and minds. We actually laugh for no reason!! A typical session involves clapping, coached laughter exercises, deep breathing (that's why it's called yoga), and meditation. All of this is guided by a trained professional, so you don't have to worry. Just come and get healthy and laugh. The laughter is based on contagious and infectious laughing, not humor, so all of it is organic and free-range. YOU provide the increased healthy endorphin hormones. You don't need a special outfit or a mat, but it helps to have water and an open mind. Some of the amazing benefits include:

Yoga & Acupuncture for PMS

New research shows that yoga can relieve both psychological and physical symptoms of PMS. In this workshop you will learn yoga poses, aromatherapy, pranayama, meditation and acupressure techniques all to help reduce the symptoms associated with PMS. You will also learn to identify specific acupressure points that can help with some of the most common PMS symptoms. We will discuss the root causes of PMS, learn about the menstrual cycle from the perspective of Chinese medicine, practice yoga, and end the workshop with acupuncture and healing energy work with therapists Tanya Boigenzahn and Jennifer Johnson. Shoulders

We all carry tension in our shoulders, some of us more than others. In fact, the shoulders, neck and upper back can be a tough area to reach in your yoga practice. Sometimes it can feel like yoga even builds tension in this area. Tight shoulders can make back bends and inversions quite a challenge, not to mention downward facing dog. Join me in this workshop devoted to our shoulders and upper torsos. We will release the tension and stress of daily life through gentle movements. Once we have begun to relax this area, we are ready to learn how to effectively build strength without building tension. Leave with a better understanding of your shoulders and how to relax and release the tension that loves to build in this area. Register

Understanding Birth

We'll reveal how to increase your odds of a faster, safer, easier birth, regardless of your use of pain medication. You'll learn about the mind-body connection, how to cope with pain and fear, and how to write an effective birth plan. Zen Mama for Birthing
Using JAI Prenatal and Amma Birthing Techniques

Couples will learn a variety of coping techniques for labor and get a chance to practice what they learn under the guiding hands of a yogi and a midwife. Life is motion, vibration, tone, rhythm and we each vibrate at our own specific frequency. When we fall out of harmony with ourselves and our world, our inner sounds become discordant and we don't feel well.
Chanting and drumming helps to restore balance by re-establishing the body's natural harmony.
Whether you are a yogi seeking to incorporate the power of sound into your practice, or an instructor interested in sharing these techniques with your students, this workshop will help you get started. We will layer simple drum rhythms with ancient mantras to raise energy for strength, healing, love and peace.
No experience necessary; please bring a drum if you have access to one. Register
